TO bike. is a new venture from Tyneside Outdoors to support its Temple Raiders, young people's bike group, in South Shields. TO bike. will provide a base from which Temple Raiders can now repair their bikes, store their spares (bikes and equipment), and support other young people to get into cycling and enjoy an active lifestyle outdoors.
TO bike. will also be a new bike recycling centre for the local community. A place where once-loved bicycles and accessories can be donated ready to be repaired, refurbished or recycled and sold to the local community at a fraction of their original cost. A full range of bike repairs and servicing will be available as well as the sale of recycled and new parts and accessories.
Once open TO bike. will hopefully host a twice-weekly young people's drop-in, supported by youth workers and bike mechanics, to provide local young people with access to the necessary tools and equipment to repair their own bikes, helping young people gain vital skills to maintain and independent and active lifestyle in a future green economy.
TO bike. will also provide training, support and advice to other members of the community and as part of a wider network of organisations promoting cycling to disadvantaged communities.
This campaign aims to raise £65,000, about 75% or the first year's running costs, in order to help us get TO bike. underway and serving the local community.
