As part of their 10 year anniversary celebrations Tyneside Outdoors are embarking upon a challenge to mark the occasion.
The aim of this challenge is threefold:
· To encourage our young people to take part in cycling as individuals and as part of a group.
· To raise awareness of the problems and issues young people face in attempting to be both environmentally friendly and have fun on their bikes.
· Last (& by no means least!) to raise as much money as possible to help continue the charity's work.
This challenge will take the form of a cycle 'race' from our shop, TO bike, in South Shields to Carvoeiro in the Algarve, southern Portugal both physically and virtually. One of our trustees, Paul Nixon, will be riding the route whilst the young people of Tyneside Outdoors will be set the challenge of matching (& indeed beating) the daily mileage achieved across their groups. The statistics are quite significant - circa 1250 miles distance with 25,000m of ascent (that’s two and three quarters times the height of Mount Everest!) so it will be a real test of those involved.
Who will get there first!!??
We're inviting others to join in too, either as a personal challenge or a group of friends or colleagues. Can you keep up with the kids? or Paul? Updates will appear here on a daily basis!
Tyneside Outdoors would like to give their grateful thanks to the following companies who have been generous in their support of this venture:
Back Yard Bikes in Gateshead, DF Fitness in North Shields, Band of Climbers, Showers Pass, G-Ride in Portimao, TSA Riley and Edge Public Solutions.
Fundraisers : Gerard New. Temple Raiders. Tyler Rose.
