We're racing one of our charity trustees, Paul Nixon, as he tries to beat us to Portugal. We're not actually going there ourselves, he hasn't invited us to ride along with him, maybe he's seen us on the BMX track or somewhere? Our challenge is to match Paul's daily mileage, collectively as a group, so if he does his expected 80 miles we have to do 80 miles between us. That could be 8 miles each or maybe 10 miles, every day until he reaches the end in the Algarve region of Portugal.
We'll be trying to keep track of our miles each day and posting our 'virtual' location and mileage on social media to keep you all updated.
The event is part of Tyneside Outdoors' 10 year anniversary celebrations and the Race to Portugal is a cycling challenge to raise funds for Tyneside Outdoors and in particular its work trying to help more young people enjoy cycling as a way to get active outdoors. By supporting the challenge you will be helping TO get more young people cycling and enjoying the outdoors on Tyneside.
